Who this is for

Someone who has made a few acrylic scarves and is about to spend real money for the first time. Capable, under-informed, and slightly braced for being upsold - which is a fair position to be in, because the category does a lot of upselling.

That reader does not need to be told that wool is nicer than acrylic. They need to know where the upgrade changes the finished object and where it changes nothing, which is a harder thing to write and a more useful thing to read.

Who writes it

Sawyer V. - an enthusiast who is genuinely into this. I read the manuals, compile the published specs, and do the math. No lab coat.

That framing is deliberate and it is the truthful one. I am not a certified instructor, I do not have a test lab, and I have not been doing this for twenty years. What I do is read manufacturer documentation carefully, compute sizing and yardage from published standards, and write down what the numbers actually say.

Where a page relies on published research - the fiber-honesty pages especially - the sources are linked at the bottom, and where the research does not settle a question the page says so.

What this site will never do

• Claim to have tested something we have not. Not once, not in passing, not in an image caption.
• Invent a credential. No certifications, no expert panel, no medically-reviewed badge.
• Publish a fabricated review, rating or testimonial. There are none on this site, and there never will be, because we have no customers and no test results.
• Type a price into copy. Prices render from a live layer with a date, or they do not appear.
• Recommend something because it pays better. Commission does not decide a pick or its rank.
• Pretend a shortlist is the whole market. Where a category is dominated by yarn we cannot buy or link, the page says so.

How the site is structured

Six permanent hubs and two reference sections. Knitting needles and crochet hooks cover the tools. Yarn by project starts from the thing you want to make, which is how people actually shop. The fiber guide answers the questions the category answers evasively. Kits and accessories cover everything else.

Reference holds the charts - sizes, weights, yardage, substitution - and guides covers the broad questions people ask before they know what to buy.
